The terms that apply when you engage HomeWire. Every engagement is also covered by a Service Agreement you sign in your portal before work begins — if anything here differs from your signed agreement, the signed agreement wins.
HomeWire is operated by Belal Kamil, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. You can reach me at homewire.uk@proton.me. I respond to enquiries within 24 hours.
HomeWire sets up a personal home server and VPN on your own hardware, on your own home internet connection. Once configured, your internet traffic routes through your home network from wherever you are. Three tiers are offered — a self-build guide (DIY), a guided build with support (Guided), and a fully managed build (Done For You). Current pricing and what each tier includes are on the pricing section of the site and are itemised again in your Service Agreement before you pay anything.
Every engagement starts with a free briefing call. If you decide to proceed, you get access to a private portal where you sign the Service Agreement for your tier, pay, and track the build through to handover. No payment is taken before you have signed the agreement, and no work begins before payment (Done For You splits payment: hardware plus half the service fee up front, the remainder before handover).
Payment is by bank transfer (preferred) or PayPal. Invoices and receipts are issued through your portal. Prices are in pounds sterling. I am not VAT registered, so no VAT is added.
Guided Setup includes 1 month of message support after handover; Done For You includes 2 months. Response is same-day for urgent issues and within 24 hours otherwise — best effort, not a guaranteed SLA. The DIY tier includes no post-delivery support, but errors in the guide itself are corrected free within 30 days of delivery. After your support window, help is available per incident (£40) or through an optional monthly maintenance plan (£25/month, cancel with 30 days' notice).
Guided and Done For You setups are complete when the acceptance criteria in your Service Agreement are met — your device gets an address on your home network, external checks show your home broadband IP, and the kill switch cuts internet if the VPN drops. Anything failing those criteria within your support window is fixed at no extra cost.
Cancel before work begins and any payment is refunded in full. After work has been delivered there is no refund — instead, if your setup does not meet its acceptance criteria, I fix it within your support window at no cost. Either of us can end an engagement at any time by email: if I stop mid-engagement, you are refunded for work not done; if you stop mid-engagement, fees for completed work are non-refundable.
The setup routes traffic through your own home broadband — it does not make you invisible or undetectable, and I will never claim it does. How you use it is your decision and your responsibility. If your use conflicts with an employment contract, a service's terms, or any other obligation, that is between you and them — I provide the technical setup, not legal or employment advice. The server is physical hardware in your home: anything needing hands-on access (like a power cycle) is yours to do or arrange.
My total liability under an engagement is limited to the fee you paid. I am not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental losses, or for consequences of how you choose to use your setup.
The hardware and the working setup are yours — use, maintain, and modify them freely. The build guides, phased instructions, setup summaries, and methods remain my intellectual property: you agree not to redistribute them or use them to build a competing service.
I will not share your identity, use case, or network details with anyone; you agree not to share my methods. During a build I can access only the server we set up — never your browsing, your files, or other devices — and my access is removed at handover unless you opt into maintenance. See the privacy page for how enquiry data is handled.
These terms may be updated from time to time; the version published here applies to new engagements, and your signed Service Agreement continues to govern an engagement already underway. These terms and every Service Agreement are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
